Community Guidelines

Last updated: July 2026

What this is about

Locationscout depends on honest, factual reviews by real guests. These community guidelines describe which content we welcome, which is not allowed, and what happens in case of violations.

The guidelines apply to every contribution on Locationscout: reviews, comments, owner responses, suggestions and reports. They complement our Terms of Service.

What we expect

Good reviews help other users make decisions. They share the following characteristics:

  • Personal experience: only review venues you have visited or booked yourself.
  • Factual: describe concretely what you liked or disliked. Constructive criticism is expressly welcome.
  • Honest: describe your experience truthfully. Honest negative reviews are valuable too.
  • Relevant: focus on aspects that are useful for other guests (e.g. atmosphere, facilities, staff, value for money).
  • Recent: ideally review experiences that are no more than two years old.
  • Respectful: even when dissatisfied, keep your tone factual and respectful.

What is not allowed

The following content will always be removed:

  • Insults, hate speech, threats or calls for violence
  • Defamation, false statements of fact or abusive criticism
  • Fake reviews, paid reviews, competitor reviews or reviews without a personal visit
  • Commercial advertising, self-promotion or promotion of competing offers
  • Spam, repetitive content or automatically generated text
  • Discriminatory content (origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, etc.)
  • Publication of personal data of third parties (real names, phone numbers, addresses)
  • Illegal content, calls to commit crimes or copyright violations
  • Sexual, violence-glorifying or otherwise offensive content

Consequences of violations

Violations of these guidelines are assessed by the moderation team. Possible measures include:

  • Rejection or removal of the relevant review or contribution
  • Warning for first-time, minor violations
  • Temporary account suspension for repeated violations
  • Permanent account suspension for serious or systematic violations (e.g. organised fake reviews, hate speech)
  • Criminal complaint in case of criminally relevant content

Honest, factually substantiated negative reviews are never removed automatically. Moderation follows the moderation level described in the privacy policy.

Reporting problematic content

If you find a contribution that violates these guidelines, please report it via the "Report" function available on every review and venue.

Briefly describe why the content is problematic. The moderation team reviews every report manually and decides on the next steps promptly.

Alternatively, you can send reports by email to info@locationscout.online.

Appealing moderation decisions

If your review was rejected or your account suspended and you believe the decision was wrong, you can lodge a written appeal.

Send a short explanation to info@locationscout.online. We will review the case again within 14 days and inform you of the result.
